Hi, I’m Ezra J Spier. I build technology to help humans. I think the world needs to be more transparent, just, and efficient.

I am a product manager and full-stack web/mobile developer with experience on building web applications in Ruby on Rails, Javascript, and mobile apps for iOS in Objective-C/Cocoa Touch. As both a technical leader and communicator, I lead software development teams while also building organization-wide technology strategy. Most of all, I have a passion for envisioning and building technology that creates positive social impact.

In January 2013, I began a year of service as a Code for America Fellow. I’m collaborating with the New York City Office of the Criminal Justice Coordinator and Arnold Foundation to build technology that makes New York City’s criminal justice system more efficient and more fair. Previously, I worked at Sustainable Harvest Coffee Importers building sustainable mobile technology to improve the productivity and incomes of coffee farmers around the world.

I’ve also studied, collaborated, campaigned, and worn amazing uniforms. I live in Oakland, California and I grew up in Portland, Oregon, where it really does rain as much as you’ve heard.
